Quick Answer: Download Pinterest Videos on iPhone
You can download Pinterest videos on your iPhone using just Safari: copy the video pin’s link, paste it into Pinterest video downloader, tap the download button, and the MP4 lands in Files → Downloads. To move it into your Photos library, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video. The full steps are below.
What you’ll need
- An iPhone running a recent version of iOS (anything with the Files app works, iOS 13 and up)
- Safari (preinstalled, nothing to install)
- A link to the video pin you want to save
Step 1: Copy the pin link
There are two ways, depending on where you find the video.
From the Pinterest app: open the pin, tap the share icon, and choose Copy link. That’s it, the link is on your clipboard.
From Pinterest in Safari or Chrome: open the pin and copy the address from the address bar. Both pinterest.com/pin/… links and pin.it short links work.
If you’re saving a lot of videos, pasting links one at a time is fine, each download takes a few seconds.
Step 2: Paste the link and download in Safari
- In Safari, go to downloadpins.com.
- Paste the pin link into the box and tap Download.
- You’ll see a preview of the video with its title and the available quality options. Tap the Download MP4 button for the quality you want.
- Safari asks where to save the file, accept the default Downloads location and tap Done.
If tapping the button plays the video instead of downloading it: don’t fight it. Go back, long-press the download button, and choose Download Linked File. The file saves instead of playing.
Step 3: Find the video in the Files app
Your download goes to the Files app, in the Downloads folder (the blue one). Open Files → Downloads and you’ll see your video there.
Step 4: Move it to your camera roll
Videos in Files don’t appear in your Photos app automatically. To fix that:
- In Files → Downloads, tap the video to open it.
- Tap the Share icon (the square with the arrow).
- Choose Save Video.
The video is now in Photos, where you can edit it, add it to albums, or send it anywhere.
Troubleshooting on iPhone
“I downloaded it but can’t find it”
Check Files → Downloads first, Safari doesn’t put downloads in Photos automatically. If you changed Safari’s download location at some point (Settings → Safari → Downloads), look there instead. Also check whether you’re signed into a different iCloud Drive folder, the Downloads folder in “On My iPhone” and the one in iCloud Drive are different places.
“The link says the pin can’t be resolved”
Make sure you copied a single pin link (pinterest.com/pin/…), not a board, profile, or search page. Private pins, secret-board pins, and deleted pins can’t be downloaded by any tool, that’s a Pinterest limitation, not a bug.
“Download Linked File doesn’t appear”
Make sure you’re long-pressing the actual download button, not the video preview. On some iOS versions, pressing firmly for a full second works more reliably than a quick tap-and-hold.
“My storage is full”
Videos save to your device first, so a full iPhone will fail silently. Free up space (Settings → General → iPhone Storage) and retry. Move finished videos to Photos and delete the Files copies to keep the Downloads folder lean.
“It downloaded but the quality is low”
You get exactly what Pinterest serves, if the original pin is 720p, that’s the file you get. Nothing you change on your iPhone affects this. Any site promising 4K from a low-quality pin is inventing pixels.
Saving Pinterest GIFs and images on iPhone
The same steps work for images and GIFs: paste the pin link, pick the format, and save from Files. We’re publishing dedicated step-by-step guides for GIFs and images next, the steps differ slightly (GIFs save as GIF files, images save in their original format), so they get their own guides. On Android? There’s a separate Android guide for that.
A note on what you save
Downloading is easy; using what you download well is the part people forget. Save videos for personal use, inspiration, reference, mood boards. If you plan to repost someone’s work, credit them and check the pin’s original source first. Creators upload to Pinterest to be found, and a link back is the least the download costs you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download Pinterest videos on iPhone without an app?
Yes. Everything happens in Safari, copy the pin link, paste it into the downloader, and save the MP4 to Files. No app to install, no account to create.
Where do Pinterest videos save on iPhone?
In the Files app → Downloads folder. They won’t appear in Photos until you open the file, tap Share, and choose Save Video.
Why does the video play instead of downloading in Safari?
That’s Safari being helpful in the wrong moment. Go back and long-press the download button, then choose Download Linked File, the file will save to Files.
Do I need to jailbreak my iPhone?
No. This uses only built-in iOS features (Safari and Files), so it works on any non-jailbroken iPhone with a recent iOS version.
Does this work on iPad too?
Yes, the steps are identical on iPad. Files, Downloads, and the share sheet all work the same way.
Is it legal to download Pinterest videos?
Saving videos for personal, offline use is generally fine, but reposting or commercial use of someone else’s content without permission can infringe copyright. When in doubt, credit the creator and link to the original pin. (We’re publishing a full guide on this, watch the Guides section.)
