What is DownloadPins?
DownloadPins is a free online tool for saving Pinterest videos, GIFs, images, and public boards in their original quality. Paste a pin link, preview it, and download, no account, no app, no watermark. This page tells you who we are, what we believe, and how the DownloadPins Pinterest video downloader works.
What we believe
- Honesty over hype. We tell you exactly what the tool can and cannot do, including the fact that quality is never upscaled and private or deleted pins can’t be downloaded by any legitimate tool.
- Respect for creators. Downloading is for personal use. We encourage everyone to credit creators and respect copyright. Read our guide on whether downloading Pinterest videos is legal.
- Privacy first. We don’t require accounts or store your downloads. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- Free forever. No premium tiers, no download limits for normal use, no paywalls. The tool is supported without charging users.
How DownloadPins works
The DownloadPins Pinterest video downloader reads publicly accessible pin pages and provides the source media file for download. When you paste a link, our server fetches the public pin page, finds the video, image, or GIF file Pinterest provides, and gives you a direct download button. Nothing is re-encoded or watermarked, you get the original file.
The tool works with pinterest.com/pin/... links and pin.it short links, on iPhone, Android, and desktop, entirely in your browser. For public boards, you can download the whole board as a ZIP file. Learn more in our board download guide.
Why people choose DownloadPins
- No login required. Unlike Pinterest’s own app, you don’t need an account to save media.
- Original quality. Files download at the exact quality Pinterest hosts, never compressed further.
- All formats. Videos (MP4), images (JPG/PNG), and GIFs are all supported.
- Works everywhere. iPhone, Android, tablet, and desktop browsers are all supported. See our iPhone guide and Android guide.
- Honest limitations. We clearly state what doesn’t work, private pins, deleted pins, and login-only content, instead of pretending otherwise.
Our content and guides
Beyond the tool itself, we publish free guides to help you get the most out of Pinterest media: how to download Pinterest GIFs, how to save Pinterest images in full quality, and 9 fixes when the downloader isn’t working.

The DownloadPins story
DownloadPins started from a simple frustration: saving a Pinterest video to your phone shouldn’t require installing a sketchy app, creating an account, or sitting through pop-up ads. We built a tool that does one thing well, paste a link, get the file, and wrapped it in honest documentation that tells you exactly what works and what doesn’t.
Every guide on this site is written from real testing, not copied from competitors. When Pinterest changes something and a method stops working, we update the guides. When a limitation exists, we say so upfront instead of burying it. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to, and it’s why users trust DownloadPins over ad-heavy alternatives.
